If you think he will listen to you maybe tell him alcohol is known to decrease the positive affects of antidepressants. That he might be feeling even better if he tries reducing the alcohol for a bit. We know how different it is when trying to talk to friends and family who although have good intentions sometimes just can't relate to our situations.
