Hi Everyone:
We had our difficult child on Concerta of 27 mg. We hadn't been to a psychiatric for evaulation since our original diagnosis several years ago. Our family Dr. retired and we were given a new one who is very antimedication. He prescribes the Concerta based on weight not on conditions etc.
We visited...
We are going to a new doctor today to look at putting difficult child back on medication. So far, his only diagnosis has been adhd and impulse control disorder. He has not been on medications since he was 6 yrs old and he is almost 10 now. The ones we tried before were: adderall, adderall rx or xr?, depakote and strattera...
I talked to Jumper's math teacher and asked her why she had struggled in algebra (she ended up with a D+ and even the teacher said she was trying hard). The teacher said that she had trouble remembering how to do certain formulas.
Jumper has a horrible memory. I really worry about her future...
Turned out that difficult child had a field trip yesterday until 4:30 so I went to his new psychiatric by myself.
It turned out better that way--he would have interrupted us and denied everything. :)
I had a ton of paperwork and history to give her and she was very interesting. Of course, she has an accent...
My husband is taking a walk... I am drinking a Mocktail and eating chocolate...
OK, What???
Do you just Follow the DSM-IV guidelines??? Or do you agree that young children can indeed have cycling maybe even rapid cycling? Indicative of a Mood Disorder or Early Onset Bi-Polar (EOBP) showing that the symptoms can be...
And one difficult child is actually excited about. Maybe I am a glutten for punishment and remind me in a week or so why exactly we are doing this, but difficult child will be going off his medications starting tomorrow. He will have to continue with one of his clonidine tablets for a week or two as it needs to be weaned off...
My 6 yr old son has been diagnosed ADHD. Atm he is being treated with 20 mg of Ritalin LA and 10 mg Chlonidine at night to peal him of ceiling into bed.
Since upping the dosage to 20 mg there seems to be more agressive traits coming out. For example, in Summer School, when asked to come...
Ever since we stopped his Concerta and have tapered off his Intuniv it has been beyond AWFUL!!!
I don't know what to do. We cannot live like this another day.
The only ADHD medication we haven't tried is Straterra. Should we at this point? It isn't going to solve anything quickly.
I am so beyond...
Warning: Rant ahead (go on to the next note if you've had enough rants)
I tried twice to type in notes this weekend ... long notes ... but the computer ate them. Just as well. They were just rants, the same old thing.
I can ditto Gcvmom's note. Homework isn't done. difficult child is in bed ... or on...
difficult child has only been on Zoloft for 2 days, so I don't think that's it.
He has been getting up in the middle of the night and playing PS2, and sneaking snacks. I thought I had hidden anything with-wheat and oats in my locked office. I think these things have babies in the middle of the night. When you...
Hello,
difficult child medications were changed two weeks ago. She was diagnosis with depression, anxiety, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) tendencies along with AD/HD. She is on Clexa 30 mg now and psychiatrist added 100 mg Wellbutrin 2xs a day. One in the morning and one in the afternoon.
She has been on just under two weeks. I haven't seen too much...
Hello,
A quick run down, I brought difficult child to neuropsychologist and he thinks there is enough evidence to suggest she has a slight case of ADHD/ADD and has suggested a non stimulant medication for treatment. He can't prescribe but asked me to check with her dr to see if they would be willing to...
Hey All,
Was out of town and stayed off the internet all that time. Was wierd. Anyway, I'm back! :winking: Missed y'all too!!!
My daughter is switching from Effexor 75mg to Lexapro 20mg. Supposedly to help her Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). She also switched from ConcertaXR to AdderrallXR, and Topomax to Lamictal...
Hello,
I am still playing phone tag with the Neruodc to schedule testing. Up until a few days ago I didn't think difficult child would be able to test because of DEX (d for dumb) not giving permission. Ex in laws put enough pressure on him that he gave his consent!
Now difficult child's psychiatrist wants to change difficult child's...
Its been a while since I've posted as things have been not too terrible since the Asperger diagnosis but things seem to have gone from bad to worse in what seems like overnight.
No idea if my siggy was fixed or not; this site has been giving me grief for almost an hour now but background is difficult child...
Well-we decided to put difficult child 2 on Lamictil. I feel guilty about trying a new medication because he's already on two....but he's still not where he should be. We've been struggling with this decision for over a year.
Basically, I feel like difficult child 2 is on the manic side..he's been getting more hyper...
It's been a while since I've ventured over here. Life was relatively stable with M for a while and C was getting a bit more managable and both started seeing a therapist they like. School started and M was doing really well at school, but occassionally having a difficult time with the "it's so hard...
Any hints? Suggestions? Ideas?
I've done the Ross Greene thing, but this little bugger is figuring out every tactic that I come up with! It also doesn't help that husband and I have different views on parenting. In his defense, he always listens when I speak with him about things...
HI
Just wanted to report on the latest medication trial for difficult child #2 who has Fetal Alcohol Effects (FAE), and is quite impulsive, distractable, and very inflexible when he doesn't get his way. Doesn't really fit the childhood bipolar diagnosis very well, closest thing seems to be what Smallworld talked about a while back of...

I was crossing my fingers and toes today-my son was up all night making his valentines day cards and presents for the teachers. He was so excited, but I was nervous if he would handle things well today with all the excitement. But he did!!!!YEAH!!!
BUT-he...
