"How Clean is Your House?"

So, am I the only one watching this on BBC America? Those ladies just crack me up! Kim smells everything. And I mean everything!

"Your sheets are crisp! You couldn't fold them, they stink!"

She even sniffed something she wiped from under the toilet rim today!

ACCKK!

My house is horribly cluttered, messy, and could use a heavy duty cleaning.

But the times I've caught this show by chance......makes me think mine is fairly clean in comparison. :sheepish:

Oh, yeah! I have to worry about husband seeing it with me, because that is the type of filth he grew up in, and he learned really well to tune it out. Now that I am getting weaker, he needs to help me more. A lot more. And I know when he sees that show he thinks of how nice it looks here!

They used to have that show on Lifetime and difficult child and I watched it together a few times. When she realized that her room didn't look all that different from what she was seeing on tv and when I made the comment that she could be on that show one day, she decided to start cleaning her room more often.

Although my house is not spotless, it is reasonably sanitary. That's the best I can do with the ADD crowd I live with. Hubby piles, Miss KT unpiles, the dog runs through with his stuffed buffalo and slides on the pile Miss KT just unpiled.

Here we go again!
I gave up a loooong time ago....

When I was single, my apartment was clean AND tidy. All the time.

When I got married, my house was usually clean, and mostly tidy.

When I had my first kid, my house was usually clean, and sometimes tidy.

After kids two and three, my house was occasionally clean, and rarely tidy.

So even though I've got a neat freak daughter, the other three AD/HDers have us outnumbered. It's great when a party or a holiday rolls around, because I'm able to summon the strength to really put a shine on everything around here because I know SOMEONE will enjoy it, if only for a few hours.

Take a picture, I always say, 'cuz it sure won't last!

Mine is spotless. I just paid the cleaning lady to do it. My mom gave me money for an anniversary present! So I used it for myself for once!

I am a sporadic cleaner. When I do really get into it, I love the way the house looks. Keeping it that way is a terrible way to spend a life though, so I let it slide.

That is the best way, I think.

Spring cleaning, Fall cleaning, keep the kitchen sink, the toilets and the mirrors clean. Change the sheets once a week and vacuum when I cannot avoid it any longer ~ that's me!

Try this, anyone who wants to establish a workable routine: www.flylady.com

I can't stand clutter, so that is not an issue.

I also can't stand bushes in the yard that are not trimmed. It's like a haircut for me. I love doing it.

husband is in a frantic cleaning mode right now so the carpets have been cleaned, floors mopped, bathrooms cleaned. (He still can't find the laundry room.)

I like flylady and I live by the same set of rules. I'd kill myself trying to keep my house clean.

Abbey, when he's done, send him here.

Yeah...but do you know how ANNOYING it is to have your one day off when one person is in cleaning mode and you just want to relax??? It's like the entire Earth needs to be cleaning at that point. Geez...

Witz, I LOVE that show.

I am stunned at the things that Kim and Aggie are willing to smell and touch.Yuck! (I do like the Diva cleaning gloves with the feather trim, though)

When husband and I moved back to his house (after getting his ex-W forcibly removed by court order and police escort...but that's another story for another day), it looked like some of those places. Papers and food refuse and chicken bones and clothes and JUNK piled from floor to ceiling in every room, with little rabbit-warren tunnels everywhere.

One room at a time, we've made the place livable (and sometimes had 30 or 40 large bags out at the curb on garbage day!).

I like to keep on top of it. I'd rather spend an hour a day cleaning, than have it all pile up into a big scary job.

OMG, yesterday they pulled 12 garbage cans of stuff out of this woman's living room that can't be much bigger that 10' x 14'! She says "Oh, it looks so nice! Thank you!" You know there's going to be a dumpster full again in a few months!

Have you ever seen the follow-up episodes? They go back a year later and check up on some of the worst offenders from previous shows.

There was one lady who had a teeny tiny little house, from which they removed 3 (yes, 3!!!) dumpsters full of junk.

A year later, her house was still SPOTLESS. I was flabbergasted, because I expected that the moment the cleaning crew was gone, she'd be filling up her little house again.

I guess if you had to find the silver lining in having Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) tendencies ?

Cleaning is a benny!

-I'm just difficult to live with. (Clean wise)

I don't have to put stuff up to my nose either - I can smell stuff far, far away.

I should write this show about my mother in law.

Her house is stacked floor to ceiling. 3 bedrooms, 4 bay garage that a lawnmower won't fit in, plus an 8x16 storage shed.

There are 2 of them. They have 2 deep freezes (the big chest ones that you could put adult bodies in) and you can't put a frozen pizza in either.
