I have never seen ugly division this bad since I have been an adult. I have no hope it will change soon(a lot is racial religious, all sides feeling righteous) but I have lots and lots of hope that I and my peeps can enjoy our lives completely in spite what politicians and rabble rousers do. I wont let that control me.I choose not to participate in the chaos that some seem to enjoy.

I dont mean anyone here!

Dont let others bring you down!!

Me either, SWOT. I lived through the sixties. I feel this is worse. Even though there were riots in the street. This feels uglier now. I feel wrong to say that because in the sixties people were getting killed. But they are now, too.

I can see how you would come to that, but the thing is this: Remember the saying. For now I will paraphrase.

It goes like this: First they came for xx. And then they came for xx. And they came for xx. And then they came for me. And nobody was left.

I will go for the real words. But the thing is. When you look at it one way, what affects one, affects all.

I cant do anything about the big picture Copa. So I am not going to worry about what I cant control. There has really never been peace and I expect bad things to happen no matter how I worry. So about the big stuff, I just wont worry. I have bad enough anxiety about the little things in my life that I may be able to impact. If a war breaks out, hey, I cant stop it. I am not going to worry about it.

I am news free. I really like it :) i am not going to watch even the election returns.

I voted early. Have been good and mostly avoided watching election coverage. I will watch some of the returns later this evening...I can't help myself.

You can probably guess how I voted, or at least anyone who's know me from the board for a while.

This is the poem I meant, by Martin Niemöller. It is at the Holocaust Museum.

First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

I think we should drop all parties and have people run on their own merit

Love this.↑↑↑

I've never been a Republican or a Democrat, though I think everyone knows I have liberal leanings. But, we nearly had a woman elected state auditor who literally has been evicted from her house, sued 7 times for unpaid bills, and has had her wages garnished for years due to judgments against her. And people voted for her against the incumbent who may not be awesome, but she hasn't done anything wrong! It was a CLOSE vote! Why would anyone vote for that woman to watchdog state spending? Because (in my opinion) people just voted their party. It's ludicrous.

I like term limits.

I started out neither party. I was very interested in politics and split my ticket. Now though I am afraid of one party. But on our ballot in Wisconsin you cant vote a straight ticket so you need to fill in each choice. We used pens. Yes, we are a bit backwards here ..lol. But it was kind of a good thing. If I had no idea about a candidate I didn't vote for either.

Lil, I heard that two politicians in NY, one already indicted for some crime, got elected. I am not aware of what he did because I skip the news.

But last night I surprised myself by wanting desperately to see if my govenor lost or won so I did stay up late watching the results so I heard about the NYers. At this time in the political climate of our country, it didnt really surprise me. Sad?

And yes my govenor is gone.

I dont know which party but I heard the person was already convicted which does not apply to the Clintons nor do i believe they ran for office. I would personally not vote for anyone who was convicted of a crime. Just a symptom of the times maybe. No criminal in either party could have my vote. I am too much a person who follows the law.

I also wont vote for a man accused of hurting a woman. I give the women especially when many come out my trust. I believe it when a legion come out and say so.

This goes on far too much in all places of work with no ramifications. I have seen it. That means that in this day and age I would not vote for Mr. Clinton. Or Mr. Trump. Party doesnt matter. I am sensitive about this issue.

SWOT, you had me curious.
Greg Gianforte (R-Montana) was re-elected--he was the one who ran with an arrest record- it was for an "body slamming" a journalist that was getting in his face. He had to pay a fine and go to anger management class.
I did a bit of reading and there are a lot who have been convicted of things while in office and some that have run for office (all different parties).

As for men being accused of things. Guilty until proven innocent? I don't believe in that. I do believe in the "Me too" movement to a point. BUT I also think there are some that may just use it for vengeance. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned...

I think it would take more than one coming forward for me to be sure, at least in my mind. And this is bipartison for me.

I totally loathe violence and inappropriateness from people of privledge, including ALL politicians, getting elected when you or me would go to jail or at least be fired from our jobs. It seens like the peons get treated differently :/ Again this applies to borh sides of the aisle.
