*Lars and the Real Girl*

Has anyone seen this movie?

I rented it from Netflix and HOWLED and WEPT through it last night and plan to howl and weep through it again tonight.

What an extraordinary, thoughtful, wistful, clever, hilarious, awkward, touching, bizarre, and completely enchanting movie. Ryan Gosling is extraordinary- no wonder he was nominated for an Oscar.

It is not a "typical" Ryan Gosling movie. It's no "Notebook" in other words. He's one of the walking wounded in this movie. He is so wounded that when he does something extraordinary, the entire community embraces him (instead of ridiculing him) until he has a chance to heal.

I get weepy just thinking of the affection and sensitivity that is portrayed by him and by the supporting cast (the townsfolk) for his character.
