My 8 year old son was just diagnosed with bipolar part i, mixed/odd..i'm not sure what to do now?? He was tested then diagnosed with adhd by another doctor back in 2008 so he has been on medications for it. He was still having problems at home and school after going thru several doctors one finally...
I am ready to spit nails. difficult child 2 was released today on 1 hour's notice. I was apparently the ONLY person not surprised by this.
I was not surprised because I had finally spoken to the inpatient psychiatrist the night before and made it clear I did not agree with her about anything. Surprise, surprise...
difficult child 2 has stabilized really quickly - a lot faster than they were expecting when he was admitted. His Depakote levels are good and he's sleeping thanks to Klonopin every night.
The psychiatrist just called and said they will release him as soon as I can get there to pick him up. He's a little sleepy...
Hi Y'all,
I finally was able to pick up the medical records and found out that my difficult child has bipolar and ODD. At this point, they're dragging their feet it seems and acting as if counseling alone will do the trick.
Not so! She had 8 days of just "Blehhhh", for lack of a better word, brattiness...
I know some of the MS's contribute to weight issues, cognitive dulling/memory issues, and acne, all of which difficult child has problems with. Does anyone know of lithium/lithobid has any of these as a side effect? Depakote definitely did but he's been off that since last Fall.
Hello all,
I am new to this forum, not sure about all the different abbreviations and stuf but I have a real problem, and am looking for some good advice. I have a 11 year old daughter s is diagnosed with Bipolar and depression. She just got out of a hospital today for talking about wanting to...
difficult child#1 is 9 years old. He did great most of last year. Last summer he just went down hill. He started melting down over nothing all the time, he became very violent, we now home school because he cant handle school. Anyway, the docs cant get his medications straight. He was on 7 at one time!
We have him...
psychiatrist said yesterday that we needed to admit difficult child back into psychiatric hospital again. He is on such a high dose of Geodon and he is mid-theraputic range on the depakote that we need to do something else to try and get him stabilized. He told me to take him last night, we spent almost 3 hours there last night...
I just read Sharon's LOL, we had one also. Must be alot of difficult child'ness going on.
Dylan's weight went from a concerning 108 3 months ago to a whopping 129 tonight. I cannot allow this to continue, no matter how great he is behaviorally. The psychiatrist agrees.
Dylan is also still having problems with the...

Hey everyone. difficult child's little brother was referred to the psychiatric due to his hyperactivity. So about 2 weeks ago we tried Stattera. First week I noticed that he seemed calmer. He wasn't running from couch to couch to stuffed chair literally diving head first, and then doing it over again. The...
Can anyone tell me about Lithium? Today my son had an appointment with his psychiatrist and he was totally himself during the appointment. His psychiatrist got to see him in true form today! MH was argumentative and disrespectful to me. He corrected me and spoke to me as if he is my equal and not my son...
Well, to make a really long story sort of short, a year ago today difficult child was released from her first psychiatric hospital stay for brandishing a knife at herself and her stepdad, and threatening to kill herself because the dogs interrupted her youtube viewing. Things seem to have only gotten worse. She may not...
Hello all! I am glad to find this group. I am new here and have been reading through the threads and I feel as if I am walking in to meet my biological family after having been in an adopted for my entire life.
This journey of motherhood for me has not been without its excitement. Really its...
Little update
We are bumping up the Lamictal to 75mg and then if that goes smoothly up to 100mg. Keeping the Focalin where it is, she only takes it in the a.m. to get through the early part of the day.
Who cares if she can't sit still or focus the rest of the day! LOL, JK
We are actually...
We are finishing up our awesome IEP report!!!
But since we have been having lengthy discussions with Ms. J (K's teacher) she has unfortunately seen K start to fall apart.
School is going on 4 weeks now.
I think the School thought at first that we were asking for a lot. Because K presents so...
Yesterday was a really bad day here in the nut house. My difficult child was cursing at me all day for one thing or another. She was in a funny mood, quick to snap at us however she was silly and laughed a lot too. I just could not read her at all. That usually means "watch out"!!!
So after a day...

Hello all, I hope everyone is doing well. I haven't been on in a few weeks, more computer problems, I need a new one.
My difficult child has been driving me nuts as usual. She comes and goes as she pleases with no regard for rules whatsoever. Our social worker comes for her visit weekly and ends up...
