My 8 year old son was just diagnosed with bipolar part i, mixed/odd..i'm not sure what to do now?? He was tested then diagnosed with adhd by another doctor back in 2008 so he has been on medications for it. He was still having problems at home and school after going thru several doctors one finally...
My daughters psychiatrist started her on 25 mg and gradually increased the dose by 25 until she reached her current dose of 300 mgs per day.. Subsequent reading on the matter has also indicated that that is the usual procedure with lamectal. My daughters new psychiatric wants to increase her dosage...
So now it's pretty obvious difficult child has cervical dystonia which goes to upper back/shoulders as well.
We stopped Geodon, and he's back on 15mg Abilify and 2 mg of Benztropin.
I think dystonia abated a bit after a week or two of this dose of Benztropin, but far from 0. Very correlated with him...
Hello, I am new here and trying to memorize all of you terminology. This seems like a wonderful sight and makes me feel so unalone already. My difficult child (son) is 8y/o. When he was 3 I started realizing he was a little different than his peers. I was reading a mag. article about asperg. (never...
to when Dylan was 3. 5. When I came here and he was 7 years old. "Severe ODD" is what he was labeled, haha! ADHD/ODD. He had been diagnosis'ed in the past. Intermittent Explosive Disorder. Mood Disorder, not otherwise specified. Disruptive Behavioral Disorder or something hahaha. Yeah, he was disruptive.
Slammed his head...
Well I must admit I really hoped I wouldn't have to come back here. AS much as I loved you all, I was happy to finally be able to move forward as life seemed to finally be getting better. WRONG. Let me first off say I'm sorry for such a long post, but I need to get this off my chest.
difficult child#1 is...

I've been doing some...
Hi,
I haven't updated our situation in a while...As of my last update, difficult child (7 years old) was doing very well on Trileptal. Well, that lasted for about 10 weeks and came crashing down a couple of weeks ago. Long story short...difficult child was hypomanic for a few days two weeks ago, then crashed for a...

Hi all. I'm new here and looking for help.....help please! I'm at my wits end. My son is 11 yrs old. He has epilepsy and is currently seeing a neurologist, psychologist and psychiatrist. He's on several different medications. Diazapam, Lamictal, Trileptol. Anyway, we're trying to discern what is 'bad'...
How many others know any good and/or bad affects of Prozac in children? I've been reading some online articles. Our psychiatrist says that she has research that has shown alot of positive things about it. We've tried ADHD medications, depakote, guanfacine and some things have worked for a while but...
Met today for the second time with the Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
She still does not paint a pretty picture. Says the son has so much rage and anger, and is definitely ODD with depression. She said if things do not change for him, by the time he reaches adulthood there is no doubt he will end up in jail from...
Not the big scarey shakey ones, just another absence seizure. We've been noticing split second space-outs for a while, but just weren't sure. I hadn't mentioned it to anyone but husband.
At the existing data meeting yesterday, SpEd teacher said the same thing, and said she's sure she saw a big...
difficult child keeps getting athlete's foot and conjunctivitis. Another mom of a difficult child told me she's pretty sure she read that some psychiatric medications can have these as a side effect.
depakote, trileptal, risperdal, trazadone
Hi Y'all,
I finally was able to pick up the medical records and found out that my difficult child has bipolar and ODD. At this point, they're dragging their feet it seems and acting as if counseling alone will do the trick.
Not so! She had 8 days of just "Blehhhh", for lack of a better word, brattiness...
I've been hiding with my girls, we've all been severely under the weather :)
Ok so Saturday difficult child, easy child and I went to the park with an old high school friend and their easy child, went fantastic. difficult child only ran once! Since I had a friend there I was able to leave easy child in the stroller and sprint after her...
Due to medication, difficult child is gaining weight at an alarming rate. Her psychiatrist is adjusting her medications to try to help with the appetite issue while still helping her but she has gained almost 10lbs in under 2 months. I had bought new clothes for her three weeks ago and the pants won't snap! I've cut all...
If anyone has experience with tegretol, I hope you'll provide your thoughts. difficult child has really done well- going on day 3 now. I know that's not a lot, but given where we were, I'm happy! :)
Re tegretol: His regular psychiatrist started him on this almost 3 weeks ago. He started on 100mg then was...
I was going to post last night how proud I was of our difficult child. We had a rough weekend regarding her failing grades and the schoolwork that needed to be completed. We removed most of her privileges until the work was done...cell phone, internet, hanging out with friends. Anyhow, she turned in a...
Wee is off his rocker. Completely.
He is entirely out of character, even for him. He is getting repeatedly stuck on things, he has no patience for little ones (normally he loves babies), he is just entirely not the same kid that we deal with on a daily basis.
I see now why he didn't not...
