Hi Rosie, I too, have felt the terror. I decided this week to set some boundaries for phone calls. It's usually a pay phone as my son is homeless. I now let it go to voice mail and deal with it the next day when I'm feeling stronger. He sent me a text from someone else's phone so this is what I texted back: "This has been hard on me. I'm am learning not to control you and find solutions for you. I am a slow learner. I want you to know that you are never far from my thoughts and I am very aware of the comforts you are going without. I miss myvson, my friend, my little survivor. I applaud your self preservation skills. I too am a survivor and need to take care of myself. I have neglected to care for myself so I am going to do that now. Some days I will be able to pick up the phone and see you, other days not so much. Just remember I love you dearly and I'm always in your corner." After that it has been easier to walk away from the phone. I tried not to shame him and to speak from the heart. Now when I don't answer he will know why and I'm ok with that. Not sure if this helps, but it certainly stopped my panic attacks over the phone ringing. (Hugs)) JM
