Has he ever had interventions specific to autism? This disorder has a very good prognosis, but regular therapy and discipline isnt what he needs. I have a 25 year old son, not a genius, but has high functioning autism too and your son is displaying many behaviors specific to autism, which Aspergers is. The anger could be frustration in being so different ...he needs interventions to learn how to be okay in a world he doesnt completely understand, no matter how smart he is. My son was adopted at two but started autistic interventions in infancy and he is honestly doing great and does not act out. Many aspies do because of their differences. This makes simple life complicated and stressful. They also tend to be very literal and demand fairness! And they have obsessions. Most are picky about food textures, clothing feel, socks and loud noise. sensory processing disorder (SPD) is part of autism. Funnily, they dont seem to notice when THEY are being too loud lol. If you want, you can PM me and I will tell you what we did. Aspergers is hard on the person. And it causes a lack of impulse control that is part of the disorder. Do call the police if he gets violent, autism or not. I am very sorry for your anxiety. Things can get better. With autism they usually improve with age and the right services.
