Quite a while since I have commented. So around the time of my last posting, when my son sold off his Pokémon card collection to get money for booze, he really got smashed. His mother called rehab and got him in, where he suffered 4 seizures during withdrawal. Besides scaring the living s**t out of him, during one of the seizures, he fell out of bed and broke his shoulder. Had to have it rebuild with some metal parts. Since that day in early November, he has not had a drink. We talk every few days on the phone and he sounds normal, still undergoing physical therapy for his shoulder as well as a weekly online session with a therapist. Haven’t arrived at a point where he’s talking about getting a job, but has turned around in helping his mother cease her dependency, as they both attend AA meetings at times. She is on track to get back to her career, a decent paying position, which he tells me that she agreed to let him move with her wherever she lands a job. I wish he would accelerate himself to seek work, although he’s never like physical labor, and did not complete any degree. I am happy that he is not drinking and tells me the fear of seizures is a primary aspect of staying off alcohol. About 100 days so far.
