Well, it has been 2 months since my son moved into his apartment (the one I bought for him). He lost his guardrails, but is surviving. He's still drinking quite heavily, but he doesn't have any money, so he's not drinking as much as he would like to (he sells what he can to get money to drink, and the govt gives him money every 3 mths or so). During the first week he got angry, smashed the walls, destroyed his computer and monitors. We re-drywalled the walls and painted them. He helped with that and I think he finally realized it's alot of work to fix the damage he does. He has applied for inpatient rehab - it's about a 3 month wait list and he has to phone in every day to say he still wants to go. He has been doing that, so maybe he's ready to turn his life around?? He's also waiting for a court date at end of April, so he's pretty scared about going to jail too. And he went to the Dr yesterday to get antidepressants. I know all of this might not result in any real change, but at least he's still trying to overcome his issues. I think living on his own is helping him grow up a bit. I'll keep my fingers crossed and I'm ready to accept whatever happens - good or bad.
