I have become pretty certain I have a form of autism and have not been diagnosed with it only because higher functioning autism has only recently been acknowledged in the past thirty years or so, and the vast difference between male and female symptoms have only been realized very recently. I have gone to at least four neuropsychs who totally acknowledged I have strange neurological differences but said they did not see it as Aspergers due to good eye contact and language skills I taught myself to make eye contact. I used to avoid it. And I have a great vocabulary and am a good writer. But in social situations I am nervous, awkward, overtalk and cant think of things to say. Much more but that is enough! For women, anxiety and depression are huge with autism. So are sensory issues and hypersensitivity which can cause crying, even meltdowns. I am not going to go to another neuropsychologist at my age. I dont have to. But explains my strange life problems and validates that I really did get misunderstood due to crappy social skills and other corresponding issues. But its just for my info, really. Any woman who has had similar problems look female autism up on Youtube and the internet. Its interesting! You may find the answer to your life quirks! :)
