Update on daughter

Hello everyone. My daughter is being released from prison tomorrow. Her mug shots have shown improvement from the time she was arrested until recently. I am worried for her. I don't know if anyone is picking her up outside of the prison or where she is going. I don't know how long she will last without using drugs again. We don't have any kind of contact, that is really for the best but I am still worried.

Hi Letgo. How in the world could you not be worried? In my town there is a program which is called The Rescue Mission. They have an arrangement with the Parole and Probation Departments. They house and feed released prisoners who want this help. There is a comprehensive recovery program that is faith-based. They help them get benefits and needed medical treatment. They provide jobs. It really is a comprehensive, humane program. People do recover and people do become productive. Most of all they feel cared for and they are integrated into the community. I know about this program because my son was peripherally involved and I have a patient that has lived within this community for over two years. I pray that your daughter finds and accepts the help of a community-based program such as this. This is the situation all of us find ourselves in. Our children are adults. They can either make good or not so good choices for themselves. Our job is to let them, by letting go. But how do we manage our own fear and worry, which is at the heart of it, only love? Posting, I guess. Love, Copa

Thanks for sharing this LetGo. I also understand why you are worried, but also know that she is an adult and will make her choices, as she has been doing for quite some time now.We all here struggle with this regarding our wayward adult children. Let go, Let God.

Hi Copa, I pray that she is offered this kind of help and that she accepts it. She has not done well in structured group living situations in the past but it would be a place for her to try. You are right in how we manage our own fears...posting. I am so grateful for everyone here. LetGo

Hi Dad34, She is an adult and will make her choices, yes. Hopefully, better ones for awhile. Her release is pending review. I am also sooo grateful for the good that I have in my life, the people that I love and the things that I enjoy! LetGo
