    Behaves at school??

I have a 7 yr old with a Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)/depression diagnoses that manages to behave in school.I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this as it makes it very hard to get help. He is on risperdal and celexa at the moment, although the risperdal scares me with the potential side affects.

    Clonidine questions?

Hi everyone. Ds4 had his appointment with his psychiatrist yesterday. He is currently taking Lexapro (10 mg) but he upped him to 20 mg (15 first). He is also on Risperdal (2 mg a day) We have seen very little if any change since he's started these medications. We ultimately want to get him off of...

    Slowly watching irritability increase...

So, M has been on Celexa for about 6 weeks total (4 wks at 20 mg's) and 4 1/2 weeks on the Tenex. I'm slowly seeing his level of tolerance decrease...he's becoming more irritable and I'm starting to see a return to the less stable M that we knew before the medications. We're not *at that point* yet...

This has been a rough two weeks let me tell you all! I go to the Neuropsychologist have a great appointment there. He thinks difficult child may have ADD/ADHD at least a mild case along with ODD. He told me the ODD is a "garden" type diagnosis but she shows some signs. Get approval for testing insurance is...

    Tics? A Side Effect?

Ugh. So, I came back last week and posted my family update. For the most part, my update on M was OK, but it's starting to go downhill rather quickly. Not only have the past few nights included hitting, kicking, biting, and restraining (which we haven't had to do in a LONG time- thinking it's...

    Hospitalization #3

Well, it's been a rough few days, but suffice it to say, difficult child 2 was hospitalized yesterday for his 3rd time. Since his father's death he has steadily spiraled downward. Tuesday night he crossed the line. Through the course of his meltdown he grabbed me by the throat and pinned me to the wall...

    Parenting Explosive Aspies

Any hints? Suggestions? Ideas? I've done the Ross Greene thing, but this little bugger is figuring out every tactic that I come up with! It also doesn't help that husband and I have different views on parenting. In his defense, he always listens when I speak with him about things...

I find it hard to be consistent

Last night difficult child and her sister got new rules for the house. There's 7 of them and I tried to keep it short. I'm praying not for them to follow the rules. but for ME to be able to keep enforcing them... I know that sounds dumb. But i realize that over all these years my difficult child's life and our...

    Bipolar questionairre link

Since there is question lately (everywhere- not just this forum) if bipolar in children and adolescents is under- or over- diagnosed, I thought others might be interested in this. It's unclear to me if this form is used for him to gather statistical data for an upcoming book or if he (staff)...

    Homework again!

I know this is a subject that has been discussed before but I hope you'll bear with me while I talk about one of my major concerns with school. Actually it's not homework in general right now. It's reading. Getting my son to focus for 20 minutes is an experience that drains me to the core. We...

    New and Afraid

First of all, "hello". I've been researching the web late nights for the last month, trying to find answers. I'm exhausted now as I type, so please forgive me any misspellings - I get the feeling however that most here are tired most of the time as well. You have my heartfelt sympathies. I...

    I'm falling

Apart again. Friday, I struggled to get up and to work. And in fact, didn't go. difficult child 2's teacher called before I got out of the house (she calls every Friday), and it was the same ol', same ol', but I found myself curled in a ball when the call was over. I stayed home, spent the day with...

    What do I do?

My youngest difficult child has resorted to hitting again lately. He use to do this before medications and I believe stopped (maybe the boys just weren't telling me), but now hes doing it again. I wanted him to wear out yesterday so he would sleep so I had him run around the back yard some. Silly I know, but I...

NO one should have to live like this.

If my husband treated me as my difficult child, I would leave him. I may have to leave both of them because I'm not sure I can do this any longer. difficult child is on spring break and the fight is on. He has kicked me, refused any request, told me to "shut up", and made the far**** sound toward me, not to mention the...
