Our psychiatrist is so great. I really mean it. He's totally focused on the big picture with my kids and not just the crisis-du-jour.
He told me today that he's concerned about difficult child 1's reaction to prednisone this week, and that with his family tree, we have to watch for mania. That observation...
My 6yo difficult child, is making me nuts about taking the medications. We have tried a couple since we started in late Aug (plus dosage changes), and have found Concerta 27 mg seems to be what he needs for his ADHD. The problem is he has convinced himself he can't swallow it. No matter that he HAS done it...
Good evening... 2 quick questions.
Seb took his Daytrana (Ritalin) today and I noticed after school that he was talking a mile a minute. It looked vaguely manic to me. He was giving me a long winded explanation about something and was talking so quickly that I could hardly follow his thought...
(I've moved your post to a thread of your own, so answers to two parents won't get confused. SRL)
"My adopted daughter will be 7 in two weeks. She has ADHD/ODD. She has a total disrespect for me and my husband. Sometimes I am very sorry I adopted her. It's not the way my life was to go. I am...
Hi,
My son had been diagnosed with ADHD, he is 12 years old. He was originally diagnosed at age 6. We originally tried many different medication but he did not tolerate them very well. He has been on Metadate 30mg for the last five years. He has tolerated it well, but I am not really sure...
Yet another incident of lying to me by difficult child 1 this morning.
He has been lying to me for who knows how long about lunch. I asked this morning if he has lunch money, to which he quickly replied "yes". I asked him to show me, since he has a history of automatically saying yes to anything that's...
This weekend I took ds off Concerta. Other than some increase in hyperactivity and impulsivity, we don't notice a drastic difference.
My reason for taking him off was to see if it would minimize his anger/agression.
Anyone in a similar situation????
difficult child 2 had a really rough year in 4th grade -- thank goodness it's finished. He is lucky to be blessed with a lot of smarts -- his grades were great but his behavior marks were AWFUL. His ADHD medications and mood medications have not worked, so we have stopped everything and will start from scratch next...
to the d/c of the Abilify LOL! He said he could make my life miserable, and that would definately be the way to do it
He wants me to find out about the Daytrana patch. He said he is very impressed with how evenly it distributes through the body, even nicer than Concerta, but doesn't think...
Well, this is day 3 of weaning my grandson off Zoloft. He has been taking it for about 9 months now, but was raised to 200 mg in March when he was hospitalized. Behavior went down the poop shoot from then on. Finally, last week, doctor decided to take him off zoloft. We have weaned him to...
We have a 10 year old who we have been told has ADHD, ADD, ODD, and Bi-polar. I realize there is a lot of helpful information here, but I think truly what I want to do is throw my story out there, more so to rant and just get it off my chest. We are yet to try any dietary changes, we do keep...
If there is anyone...anyone at all that can help me out there? Then now is the time for it. I feel completely helpless and feel a complete and utter failure as a mother. My son is now attending a new school. I pulled him out and home schooled him for about a year after his grandmother died...
Hello everyone, I am new here to this place. I have never been apart of a support group but this place seems like a great place to share stories and offer advice. I don't know exactly where to begin so I'll start with introducing myself as MyHrt (MyHrt) stands for MyHeart which is my son because...
I'll start with the history to help. Since 2002 my middle one has been in treatment. Initial diagnosis was simply ADHD inattentive with ODD and just didn't do well with school. She was born with some physical stuff that was addressed early in life that didn't really disrupt her life too much but...
Thank you all for the input. I spoke to her therapist today and her doctor. I actually thought it was going to be a fight, but good news, my difficult child will be getting a neuropsychologist exam, MRI and an EEG. She will also be taken off the Concerta and starting Lamictal. The doctor says she wants to leave my...
I feel very badly even typing this but find myself really disliking my son. I almost hate him sometimes. I fantasize about being a single almost 40 year old child-less person! How much different my life would be if I never had kids. The guilts get me though when I think like this because I KNOW...
So - my easy child is currently taking a generic version of Zoloft for diagnosed depression... It's been less than 2 weeks so I can't say we've seen any results but the psychiatric thinks she also has ADD... the symptom checkers online do match up but we have not experience with this and I'm wondering...

FYI to anyone taking the generic form of Concerta. The FDA has issued a drug safety bulletin regarding the effectiveness of generic Concerta manufactured by 2 companies.

Hi,
My little guy (7YO) just had a medications increase to 36 mg of concerta. Up from 27. He was complaining of stomach problems before. I don't want it to get worse. Does anyone have an idea on how to help with medication caused belly aches? We give the medication with food.
