Anyone have any experience? My difficult child who is 9 was just diagnosed with Bipolar a couple days ago. The psychiatrist was very good. He wants me to get into my prim care doctor so that I can get on different medications also because paxil just doesn't seem to be working for me and I also have bipolar symptoms...
He's driving me nuts! Have any of you been given trileptal for aggression? We got the rx today and was going to give it to him tonight, but I'm reading this stuff and it's scaring the ever-loving **** out of me!
HELP!!!!

We are still not right with-the medications for either of my kids. :( My difficult child 1 was on Zoloft (after failing on Prozac) and we just weaned her off because I didn't think it was helping and thought maybe it was making her more angry. Maybe I was wrong because she's been completely off the Zoloft since last week...
Just posted a fairly long post but cyberspace ate it. Ugggh! Anyway - Basically easy child/difficult child was taken off of Intuniv today bc it's causing aggression. psychiatrist now thinks its very very likely he's bipolar as well as ADHD and prescribed Trileptal today in addition to the Vyvanse. He's starting it tonight...
She had an increase last week (small increase) and this is the second tantrum since then. First one I called the police. I'm bordering on it now as she's been violent with me already, but since she's acting like a child I followed her lead and treated her like one - spanked her and washed her...
So therapist is going to look into this for difficult child son. I have heard of it many times, but really do not know what they are. I am guessing (hoping) it would be helpful. difficult child is better on the increased abilify, we will look into other medications next week after the neuropsychologist testing, but is still...
We finally saw difficult child's new psychiatrist yesterday and we have a good place to start working. First thing he wanted to take him off Ritalin because in kiddos with high anxiety that can cause voices or hallunications. WOW! That made him feel somewhat better about what was going on. Now he is on Concerta...
hi
went to doctor today with-difficult child. he basically leaves it up to me what to put her on, it's beyond ridiculous.
i have to sit there and make an uneducated guess as to what medication to put her on with-o any info on the medication. he rushes me out the door. it's so hard.
so i said we've tried ap's, ssri's...
difficult child tells me today that he wants to drink or smoke or something because he doesn't feel the way he should. OK, so I tell him this means the medications are not right yet and we need to discuss this with psychiatrist. I asked if he had been doing anything- he said sneaking and smoking cigarettes sometimes. I say...
My son is currently in a physchiatric hospital to get his medications stabilized. During this time (8 LONG days and counting) he has been given PRN medication either by mouth or injection (ativan and more often zypraxia) when he is having a violent meltdown. While the goal is to become satablized...
I'm new to this site and have never tried a support group type thing. I'm really at my wits end. When my difficult child's mood swings into the mean version of him he explodes, argues over everything, hits things, etc. What frustrates me most is when he refuses to follow any direction. He won't even go...
we kicked the Geodon. Was stimulating (I'm laughing, because wouldn't that be typical of my son?).
Our choices are, very obviously, limited. The doctor, again (if you remember, he tried this once), suggested the Tegretol. There is an interaction warning with Lithium and Tegretol. After I reminded...
My husband is taking a walk... I am drinking a Mocktail and eating chocolate...
OK, What???
Do you just Follow the DSM-IV guidelines??? Or do you agree that young children can indeed have cycling maybe even rapid cycling? Indicative of a Mood Disorder or Early Onset Bi-Polar (EOBP) showing that the symptoms can be...
I have no idea what I'm doing here so bear with me. I have a 16 year old who has just been diagnosed with "maybe" bipolar. They aren't sure because right now she's refusing to really talk to anyone about how she's feeling so everything is based on what I'm telling the docs. Things started...
Hello everyone.. i have not been on here in a long time but i need some courage -advice from those who have been here. My difficult child is back home after a time with reletives in another state..didn't work out go figure...ugh he is now 17 is in my face everyday as he is doing "school" at home since he...
My difficult child is 3 years old. He has epilepsy and anxiety issues. The psychiatrist feels he has severe separation anxiety and maybe social anxiety. He is going for a formal assessment at a partial hospitalization program hopefully next week. We are just waiting for an opening. But I have been...
Hi Guys! Please give me an answer/suggestion re: lithium. difficult child 1 is in the psychiatric hospital. and finally started cycling for them (took a week + to do so). They're suggesting lithium to quell the impulsivity and the hypersexual comments and gestures (he's 12 by the way). They explained that this points...
I have posted before about my son and PWS
I had hoped we would not have our unusual behavioural epsiode again this year. It is a yearly event for the past 3 and a half years and was unmedicated.
This time when the episode started just over 10days ago we tried to keep it at bay.
it didnt happen...
