My Mom tossed out 20 years' worth of instructions for things they no longer had, last year.

WOW! That is so familiar to me! Sounds very much like my Dad, but my Dad never bothered actually fixing anything. He'd bought the replacement stuff and then kept it until he sold the house.

For ten years I was married to Ex who was an Engineer. Not once did I ever have to even think about repairs or improvements. After six years of being single I married husband. What a shock! He is truly a wonderful, intelligent and caring man but, lol, he "intends" to do all kinds of things at home and somehow just doesn't get around to it. When I hire someone to do it? He looks at the bill and then says "you should have asked me to do it instead of paying". Eh Gods. DDD
