Okay, I feel most qualified to speak on the South, rednecks, and rv's.
I have lived my entire life in SC. I have never seen (except in photos on Facebook) rednecks in the back of a truck, with shotguns, waiving a rebel flag. I have never had a KKKlansman approach me or deliver a pamphlet to my home or place one on my car.
What many see as a redneck is considered a "country" boy in other areas of the country. Yes, we like to hunt. We like to fish. We like burn barrels, and bbq, and country music. But we are also dr's, teachers, lawyers, and accountants.
I have had an rv on a permanent lot in a small campground for 2 years. Since June, I have lived in it (waiting to close on our new home in this area) RV living is not bad but be prepared to seriously downsize. Be prepared to use a laundromat (I miss my washer/dryer) and often they are expensive in campgrounds. Campsites in SC range from $25 to &100 per night. And pulling a camper with a truck or driving an rv from location to location can be costly-most get between 8-10 mpg. Most people who camp are very friendly no matter what area of the country they are from.
