Anyone have an older teen/young adult who was diagnosis'd with ODD as a child?

My son was diagnosis'd with ADHD and ODD in Kindergarten. He still has these characteristics at age 17. What has helped your child? Are they still like this? Did they outgrow it? How is their life now? Oppositional Defiant Disorder ⚠️Angry and irritable mood: ✓Often and easily loses temper ✓Is...

On my side: my father, and both of his parents. Also, my maternal grandfather. Suicide: grandfather's father. On husband's side: Maybe himself (doesn't drink but said he had a problem before we met). Not sure about his dad, he drinks a few beers everyday. Don't know about his grandparents.

MODS - Please delete my post - I changed my mind. I'm not sure how to reach you. I did try to "report" my own post and put in comments to have it deleted, yet it's still here. Thank you.

I had forgotten (again) about this board. I discovered it in 2007 before my son started Kindergarten. Posted for a few years and then found The B Team on Facebook in 2015. Haven't been too active there for the past couple of years either. My son is now 17. I pulled him out of public school to...

17 year old daughter threatening suicide

Thank you for your reply. I can imagine a scenario where you take seriously each and every threat (by going to er or whatnot) and the child gets to the point where they just stop threatening and start acting on it instead. Suicide scares me so much. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk

17 year old daughter threatening suicide

Jcrupper1 - I know it has been a month since you posted this, but I am wondering how your daughter is doing. Also, for anyone who may know this - I'm curious what percentage of actual suicides are preceded by threats of suicide. Does anyone have a good source for this info? Sent from my...

    Revoke consent for Special Education

How does Section 504 apply to the disciplinary removal of a disabled student from school? Section 504 protects disabled students from being improperly removed from school for misconduct that is related to their disability. As a general rule, Section 504 and IDEA apply to the disciplinary...

    Revoke consent for Special Education

This is where we are. Losing battle and my son is who suffers the most because of poor treatment. I sent one last letter insisting on a new case manager and for him not to be in her class. I'm wondering if I will even get a response. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk

    Revoke consent for Special Education

Copa, Did you regret yanking your child out of school? My understand of the basic differences between an IEP and 504 is: fundung services / SDI A 504 does not have services or specially designed instruction - just accommodations. I don't think we need any services.

    Revoke consent for Special Education

Crud I typed a response on my phone and lost the entire thing! Let me try this again.... I have a 7-8 page complaint written to the state that I have not yet sent. The reason I have not sent it yet is because I do not think it will do anything to change the situation. Sure they might get...

    Specially Designed Instruction (SDI)

I am right there with you - more harm than good. I just posted in the general thread about revoking consent for special education.

    Revoke consent for Special Education

Has anyone ever revoked their consent for special education services because they do not agree with the school district and have been fighting too long and have realized nothing is going to change? That's where I am right now. I just want to make sure I am not making a huge mistake by revoking...

    If you disagree with IEP

Thanks MidwestMom. I completely agree with what you have said. The advocates we have here in WA are not with the school district. They are from PAVE. My experience having them with me is that it was no different than bringing my mom or friend along. No fear from the SD. I have looked at the dept...

    If you disagree with IEP

After reading the new IEP for umpteenth time, I discovered they also removed a goal that was not met. In one of the last meetings the sped teacher was complaining that it was too hard to measure/track. Then surprise - she removed it!! I have been writing letters to the team indicating all the...

    If you disagree with IEP

Very well stated. I agree with all you said. I have considered revoking my consent for sped services. I just don't know if that would bite me in the butt later.

    If you disagree with IEP

No, they did not provide any data or explanation for removing them. They think he is capable and just refuses to work and so therefore if he applied himself he would not need those accommodations. Nope, not flipping desks or anything bad. Just sitting and not starting. I've told them he has...

    If you disagree with IEP

Thanks. When they sent the revised IEP yesterday, it included PWN stating all of their responses to my requested accommodations. The sped teacher, including head of spec services for the district removed accommodations from the previous IEP and did not include them in the new one even though I...

    If you disagree with IEP

Found this but not sure what state- If a parent does not agree with the school, they do not have to sign the IEP. If they disagree in writing to some or all of the IEP within 10 days, the safeguards apply (at least in my state). Parents can write polite letters to explain their disagreement...

    If you disagree with IEP

Yes, thank you!! They are not willing to do anything other than send him out of the classroom for not working - or punish him for behavioral stuff. The attitude of the principal is "I am completely within my rights to do so" - same with the district as you saw from what I posted above. The...
