It is exhausting trying to keep d from eating nonstop! Some if it is healthy, some not. But even eating too much of a good thing isn't. Could this eating (disorder?) be part of his anxiety? Is it Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) to eat like this?
He is such a beautiful child. This emerging weight problem greatly concerns...
It's been a while since I've ventured over here. Life was relatively stable with M for a while and C was getting a bit more managable and both started seeing a therapist they like. School started and M was doing really well at school, but occassionally having a difficult time with the "it's so hard...
Hello All--
As you may know, my daughter, difficult child, was diagnosed with ADD (despite having no symptoms of ADD), ODD, and more recently Depression and Anxiety.
When she was little--I suspected Aspergers...but my theory was dismissed almost immediately because doctors said difficult child's eye-contact "seems...
difficult child and I started with a new therapist a couple of months ago. We see him every 2 weeks and when I first spoke with him, he spilled out everything about the best counseling approach when BiPolar (BP)/mood cycling is involved with an adolescent. What he said was consistent with what I had read in various books...
For a long time I was comfortable with having floating diagnosis; including the one that it's just bad parenting (I know better). It was adhd, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), three kinds of anxiety (Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Separation, Social) etc. I also see signs of bipolar with sugar addictions, hating the "no" word, manipulation. I see this as...
Ok...so, things were going rather well with M, as you all know, with the exception of the increasing irritability and building bottled anger, which we addressed with the psychiatrist and he advised us to increase the Tenex and said that we should see an immediate improvement.
Fast forward to today...
HI
Just wanted to report on the latest medication trial for difficult child #2 who has Fetal Alcohol Effects (FAE), and is quite impulsive, distractable, and very inflexible when he doesn't get his way. Doesn't really fit the childhood bipolar diagnosis very well, closest thing seems to be what Smallworld talked about a while back of...
Well my son made it through the day!
I was crossing my fingers and toes today-my son was up all night making his valentines day cards and presents for the teachers. He was so excited, but I was nervous if he would handle things well today with all the excitement. But he did!!!!YEAH!!!
BUT-he...
I am new here & desperately looking for help. My difficult child is 5 (Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD)/asperger's, ADHD) and also has a congenital heart defect. He had 2 surgeries as a baby and we just found out this week he needs another open heart surgery. He is extremely anxious as it is and has a lot of trouble with sensory...
Since there is question lately (everywhere- not just this forum) if bipolar in children and adolescents is under- or over- diagnosed, I thought others might be interested in this. It's unclear to me if this form is used for him to gather statistical data for an upcoming book or if he (staff)...
Hi there I am new to this discussion board and hope that someone else out there can relate with my delima. I have a nin year old boy that I strongly belive has ODD. He is my only natural son as I also have four step sons. His father is against all types of medications and does not feel that it...
Kanga had a complete outburst in the lobby of the mental health clinic on Tuesday. Today husband and I get called into a meeting with the clinic director. If Kanga loses control like that again they will be calling the police - not to have her arrested but to get her under control -- and if they...
I know it could take weeks, months, up to a year, but could it take less than 48 hrs?
The in-laws visited M last night and said he was talking a mile a minute their entire visit and they were "exhausted" by the time they got out of there. They said he was well behaved and he was focused (so...
increase the Tenex to 2 mg a day (1 mg BID from .5 mg BID).
I didn't see THAT one coming. He's pretty confident we'll see an improvement in M's increased irritability, lowered tolerance for environmental triggers, and daily outbursts within 3 days to a week. Me, I'm not so sure. Then, it...
I hate all of this I just wish there was some way to know what was wrong with our kids for sure!!!
I am just convinced 100% that difficult child 1 is Bipolar... how it will develop I am not sure... As Dr. Pavuluri said to us she is a classic Bipolar case. All of the signs and symptoms and the genetics...
I have not posted for a while, but I guess I have a need to vent somewhere safe. My difficult child is so out of control it is eating me up inside. He is only 7 afterall... His new thing is that "i am not his boss, therefore, he does not have to...) The real kicker is that usually it is something for...

Ok..difficult child went to the doctor the other day, after about 6 months. I asked about the evaluations mentioned here. It is a big medical complex and they do all those tests, but I was told no need to do that, it would be a waste of money. he has shown that he CAN be good. He increased Lamictal to...
First of all, "hello". I've been researching the web late nights for the last month, trying to find answers. I'm exhausted now as I type, so please forgive me any misspellings - I get the feeling however that most here are tired most of the time as well. You have my heartfelt sympathies. I...
