We have tried a number of medications for difficult child. The psychiatrist's we have seen always go back to suggesting antipsychotics, but I'm hesitant for many reasons one of which is...don't you end up having to up the dose and up the dose and then add more medications to counteract the side effects and eventually it stops...
We saw the other psychiatrist in the practice because ours is on vacation. I was okay with that because I don't particularly like ours.
So, this other psychiatrist is about 3 days older than dirt. Just sayin'. And she didn't listen to anything that difficult child said. I would repeat back exactly what difficult child said and...
Hi I have not been on this site for awhile. My son 4 1/2 was given the diagnosis of Pervasive Developmental Disorder (PDD)-not otherwise specified and was put on clodidine - did nothing. Changed to Rispodal- worked wonders until he put on weight (4 lbs in one month) He was on .25 ml dr increase it to .50 ml 2 x a day - his impulsiveness got worse and he...
Hardly know where to start. psychiatrist apparently finally saw the whole big picture today!
History: Abusive Biodad and difficult child 1. difficult child 2 was diagnosis'ed BiPolar (BP) at age 9 (not 'official on paper'but treatment for it anyway) due to behaviors and mood swings, also put on IEP for emotional lability and dysgraphia. Put...
So many of you were very supportive last week with my post of can't stop crying. I thought I would ask you guys if you have any thoughts of what I might want to ask the psychiatrist tomorrow.
We have been doing this for 3 years and I think I have read EVERY book and googled mood disorder and or...
Hi all,
I haven't been around in a long time, things have been going so wonderfully for my ds! He is happy, he is not showing ADHD symptoms, no meltdowns/rages/anger issues in months. I mean, I'd call us "normal" right now LOL
The only problem is that since starting on Geodon, he has been...
My difficult child ALWAYS has some kind of pain. Chest pain, side pain (under ribs), always has a headache, neck pain, ankle, back, hip. etc. Always something, sometimes a few. Now it is ankle, and back. Still see him poking at his rib area. had everything checked out over and over. All ok. the Ankle...
Is there any appetite suppressant that is safe. difficult child is eating huge amounts on seroquel and also when was on abilify. He's getting obese. Do psychiatrists ever prescribe or rec anything to combat the over eating?
I've written this 20 different ways, and I know up-front it's a pretty impossible answer - so I'll just do my best. We're going through medication adjustments since the bipolar moods have definitely come back out again - and I don't know what's the extent of what the medications should do.
We've caught...

Well I believe it was a very good psychiatrist appointment. psychiatrist took difficult child off the new medication, Geodon. She increased the lamictal. Said he should be taking it twice a day. He has only been taking it in the morning. psychiatrist also told difficult child he can take the abilify as needed if he feels very agitated. He admitted he...
difficult child is starting to gain weight on Abilify. (not much though) She is complaining that she is hungry ALL the time. She is trying very hard to make good food choices, but... ANyway, is there something similar that doesn't seem to cause the hunger?
She has been weaning down off it, but we are...
You guys are always my go to place when we start having problems. Some of you may remember me and my difficult child Juan Carlos. Since starting seroquel last year, Carlos has been awesome. He has had zero violent outbursts and is learning how to deal with his emotions. I am still homeschooling him...
After almost 17 very good, almost miraculous months, the realization that the medicine is no longer working for Dylan has hit us head on. He is hypomanic. Eyes bugging. Loud. The giddy, "I can't help it" laugh. It's beyond annoying. Truthfully, I saw what I thought was mania before, but within...
Ok. difficult child has been awful, more awful since psychiatrist put him on remerom about a month or so ago. He has not been in class for about two weeks. (kicked out of one or another, or else refuses to go to class) Anyway. psychiatrist appointment. today. Stopped the remerom and put him on Abilify. Now, difficult child has a very...
This time it's the Risperdal, I'm pretty sure. He had his usual dose last night (back down to 1.5mg from earlier in the week).
About 30min after I gave him his Depakote, he started having the jaw pain and drooling and his eyes were rolling up again.
I just left an urgent message for the...
Well we when to the p-doctor today and when saw Ken and his bizzare behavior he increased the Depakote and started Geodon. We'll see...
Anyway anyone know much about Geodon??
Help please

Hello, I have been away for awhile and need advice. My difficult child is diagnosed with bi-polar. He has currently been taking Abilify 10.0 mg 1x/day and Clonidine 2 times/day (1/2 pill in am and 1 and 1/2 pill at bedtime). He continues to struggle with moods, oppositional behavior and has started some new...
:whiteflag:Well, I am new on here and wish I didn't have to be here, like so many of you. Words like frustrated, exhausted, spent, hopeless, etc. do no justice to how I feel at this moment. My hopes for posting this, are that I will find support, advice and resources. I would like to say...
Last night our dog cowered down to difficult child. He has never done this before. Our little guy said the dog kept yelping when difficult child held him. They were home for about 1 1/2 hours alone today.
I hate them being alone but both my parents have passed and my in laws live an hour away. My sister who usually...
Read other Geodon threads, got some conflicting info, thought it's time for another one.
difficult child busted through 120lb weight limit (psychiatrist and I agreed on this number as "try Geodon here" a few months ago) and last night we started on a tiny (20 mg) dose of Geodon (with a full meal of course) last...
