Got a nice letter from difficult child

She sent me a two-pager (written small) from her Residential Treatment Center (RTC). She says she realizes now that she never wanted to accept me as her dad -- she had a daddy, and was a daddy's girl, before he walked out of her life -- but that I had accepted her as my daughter. She didn't ask for anything, just wanted me to know that she realizes how hard I tried with her and is grateful. I was very touched. This is a level of selflessness not seen in difficult child before. Extremely encouraging.

How wonderful to get such a letter!! I would cherish it. I know it was like a big bear hug to you to be able to hear those words from difficult child
