i am new so cna't comment on the psychiatrist yet.
i will say that husband and i just started reading the explosive child and it has helped out getting us to understand difficult child's perspective on things.
i have been trying for yrs to get husband to see that difficult child wasn't 'trying to have it his way' on purpose. that he is not wired right and this book has really helped us see things in a different light.
now we have just started reading and haven't tried anything yet but just the changing of our mindset has helped us diffuse some meltdowns.
if i can get the principle to read this book(she gave a copy to the teacher but i doubt the principle has read it)i think it will help us all!
good luck with-the psychiatrist!
