And was so close to having to call 911...man, it's like he KNOWS where the line is and he will NOT cross it. It took a lot of people convincing me (once someone TOLD me that was even on option) that it was ok to call 911 if he should become a threat to himself or others..and I finally have told...
difficult child is on the Adderall and Risperdal for his ADHD/ODD. I cannot tell you the HUGE difference it has made in him. He's like a different kid. He's so enjoyable to be around now. I miss him so much when he's not here. I want to come home to be with him instead of dreading it. He has gotten...
Sigh.
Just when we get 1 or 2 behaviors under control, another one crops up.
The other day, difficult child bit my hand. Hard. Drew blood. He was already ramped up and I made it worse by being sarcastic, and when he started in on me by screaming in my ear and making every sentence start with-"F" I lost it...
His dr. wanted to increase his adderall and give him risperdal, but I told him I had reservations about the side effects of the risperdal. He said he understood and that the decision to whether or not place him on risperdal was mine. I was against raising the Adderall since he was doing ok on...

Has anyone heard of or tried this? It was suggested to me at the ER Friday night and I'm hoping for some input or ideas. At first I laughed and told her it was yet another glorified "sticker chart" but after researching it a bit, I guess it's used quite often in psychiatric and/or correctional...
I just came back from visiting difficult child in juvie. He was saying that kids on seroquel will sometimes cheek them, then use the seroquel as a bet while playing cards. He says the kids say it can make you high.
Did everyone except me already know this?
I'm kind of glad now that psychiatrist changed difficult child...
This is bugging me about Justin's Residential Treatment Center (RTC) - Told to him in front of me today during family visit, about his Psychiatrist appointment Thursday... (simply medications management)
He told me he does not want to increase his dose of medications... (on a low .5mg) - the family counselor said,
well it is up to you you do...
Hi everyone! I'm a newbie and my signature says most everything, but I wanted to add that Alexis has been off of her Risperdal since the beginning of this Summer due to the psychiatrist's concern about possible side effects. She seems to be doing pretty well as far as the bipolar goes with only...
difficult child 2 had only one timeout today -- YAY! Again, for minor stuff. No violence, no inappropriate behavior with other kids.
I think the Seroquel bump is working, but I'm not sure if this is truly enough yet. He's still a bit impulsive in the late afternoon now (at least we're getting a couple...
My daughter (almost 16) was prescribed vyvanse which is not covered and when I called the insurance company they said the only thing they cover is generic adderall - which I believe is straight amphetamine...
We got a free 30 days on the vyvanse so will try it but see it's obscenely...
Lately, my brain hits immediate overload when I have to deal with this carp. So instead of rewriting this, this is the email I sent to the SpEd director.
What the heck???
"I just received a phone call from Principal. difficult child apparently slept yesterday morning (this is the first I heard of this)...
We have tried a number of medications for difficult child. The psychiatrist's we have seen always go back to suggesting antipsychotics, but I'm hesitant for many reasons one of which is...don't you end up having to up the dose and up the dose and then add more medications to counteract the side effects and eventually it stops...
Kanga went nuts again. Neighbors called the cops. Luckily our police department seems to have had very good training on the mentally ill. They asked if we needed help. Waited until she took her medications. Told us we were "saints" for adopting her (the one time when it helps to have transracially...
My difficult child had a complete melt down last night. Her Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) seems to be getting worse. The meltdown last night was due to the fact that I lost one of her toys (her tamagochie). She asked for it before she went to bed and when i couldn't find it anywhere she became hysterical. This went on for about...
Hi, I'm new here, so if I'm not posting to the proper place, I'm sorry. I've been googling for months for info that might help my son. He's 6 and ADHD/severe anxiety (ODD flows out of the anxiety, but he's not really your typical ODD kid).
We've tried different medication trials for a year, and...
I am a now happily married 30 year old man with a 7 year old difficult child from a previous relationship. D had a typical early childhood. Nothing out of the ordinary, walked, talked, development seemed quite normal. Potty trained at 2, well mannered, people would comment on happy he semmed. However, D...
My oldest son has back home this year after a year away in Residential Treatment Center (RTC) where we thought he made great progress in getting himself out of school refusual mode that he has been in since K. We thought he had learned tools to cope with things that required persistence and much more of a sense of self...
Some may remember, I've posted a few threads about my niece. Mom has been trying to be consistent and firm with her but she fights her every step of the way. Calls her B word and tells her she can't tell her what to do. She has been communicating with her Bio-Mom which is against the no-contact...
Does anyone have any ideas for dealing with difficult child 2 who gets so bent out shape when he doesn't get what he wants. Friends aren't available to come over, he wants something now, somebody didn't get something at the store, he wants to do something, something doesn't go his way, he gets bummed out...
