Ideas for helping difficult child 2 de-escalate

difficult child 2 has been diagnosis'd with Bipolar II and ADHD. In my mind, the ADHD is in question because I don't think he's properly medicated - although he is better on his medications than without; just still not stable. His medications are Symbyax (sp?), trazadone for sleep, propranolol for tremors, and Adderall (the...

Our own good/bad experiences with medications for our kids

Someone suggested this and I thought it was a good idea. We have to remember that everyone is different and that this isn't a "yes" or "no" on anything, just our own children's experineces. I'll start. Ritalin was my son's first medication and it didn't do anything much for him. He was then put on...

    It can only Get Better!!!

Recently my son had a major melt down and to be honest I thought I saw the devil. I had to sit on him to dress him and he refused to take his medications. That day we had a check up with his pediatrician and my son preoceeded to tell him that Nobody Can Make Him Stop Being Bad... I cried for 3 days...

What do you do when your child is raging?

We have a very predictable Saturday morning pattern, and it starts with a massive rage by difficult child. He wakes up at the crack of dawn and starts demanding stuff of us - get up! feed me! take me fishing! now! etc. and when we don't do exactly what he says he goes into his screaming, crying...

    medications

Its a long story but I will get straight to the point. My boyfriend's niece is a difficult child, she is 14 years old and has showed signs of being bi-polar since shes a young child. Her parents had her on a low dose of prozac and she seemed to be doing great. 4 years ago she was taken from the parents and placed...

    Abilify

Tomorrow we head to the psychiatrist. W is going to be evaluated and we are going to talk about L's medications. When we upped L's medications, they had said that we can take them up 1mg yet or possibly change to Abilify. Anyone have any experience with Abilify?

Over the past week he can not go to sleep, Abilify is only at 2 mg. Dr's only suggestion switch...

    Abilify

Hi everyone! I would love to tell you that everything has been going smooth around here... But I can't. My difficult child got suspended yesterday for the second time of his kindergarten year. Abilify and difficult child 1

Hi! He's on 8 mgs. 4 in the a.m. and 4 in the p.m. All was right with the world, but things are changing. Drooling, aggressive behavior is returning, stiff legs, back and now shoulders, "droopy", seems sedated. The anxiety is creeping back in as well. My question: Anxiety seems to be the...

    Question on Abilify

Does anyone have any experience with Abilify? My difficult child is 8 and has been taken off risperdal due to excessive weight gain and is now on Abilify to assist with his mood disorder. Since this is a new drug for us, I was wondering what others have encountered and whether or not positive results are...

    BiPolar (BP), Abilify, TD, TrueHope

So psychiatrist looked at difficult child's tongue and thinks that the little movements he sees around the edges may be tardive dyskinesia from Ablfy. Anyone has seen anything of the sorts? When he's stressed, tired, manic he starts moving his tongue about checking out missing teeth etc. Says can't stop. And I...

Question for parents with- kids on Abilify

Could some of you please visit the Early Childhood board and address this question? The parent is understandably anxious as her 3 year old was hospitalized last week due to a possible medication reaction (Risperdal). http://www.conductdisorders.com/forum/showthread.php?t=17519&page=3 Thanks, SRL

Abilify? Anybody have experience with this one?

The doctor changed PCw/BiPolar (BP)'s medication's yesterday. We are now trying Abilify. The resperdal helped with the voices/depression/hallucinations, but her anxiety and paranoia were off the charts. Hopefully this one will be better. Plus daughter couldn't stop eating!
