Today we went to see the psychiatric doctor and they changed his medication from abilify to depakote. Does anyone have expierence with depakote? I really hope it helps with his outbursts at school, although today was a good day. I hope it doesn't take too long to kick in...:anxious:
I finally thought we had a concrete diagnosis of Bipolar Disorder for Little Bear last week and it all changed last night:confused1:
He was qualified for services at school last Friday with a really good IEP that included transportation, sensory breaks, etc. which was really a HUGE stress reliever...
Well, we're still seeing a steady increase in anger, irritability, outbursts, etc. (in fact, his outbursts have gone from a rare occurance to several times a day now), so thank goodness our psychiatrist appointment is tomorrow.
I'm guessing the psychiatrist is going to do a medication change- I can't imagine he'll see this...
As some of you may remember, about 8 months ago I put d on 10 mg of celexa to try and help with his disabling anxiety. I had to come to the opinion that most of his issues were related to Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) stuff and thought a low dose of an SSRI was worth a trial. I looked for signs that it might bring...
Hello everyone.
Hoping I will be able to find some info and support here.
I have a 10yr old son who was diagnosed with ODD and learning disorders not otherwise specified. He is currently taking Strattera 40mg in the AM and Seroquel 25mg in the evenings. The Seroquel is being bumped up to 50mg XL tomorrow to...
I don't know what to make of it or do with it (if anything)...
M seems overly anxious/concerned about sounds/voices that he can't place...like he wants to make sure that the rest of us heard them too and that we know where the sound was coming from. (did that make any sense? LOL) For instance...
HI
Just wanted to report on the latest medication trial for difficult child #2 who has Fetal Alcohol Effects (FAE), and is quite impulsive, distractable, and very inflexible when he doesn't get his way. Doesn't really fit the childhood bipolar diagnosis very well, closest thing seems to be what Smallworld talked about a while back of...
Since there is question lately (everywhere- not just this forum) if bipolar in children and adolescents is under- or over- diagnosed, I thought others might be interested in this. It's unclear to me if this form is used for him to gather statistical data for an upcoming book or if he (staff)...
So...M's out of control "manic" like behavior started Thursday night (after his last dose of Tenex was Thursday morning)...it continued all weekend...Friday included jumping all over the furniture, non-stop movement, speed-talking, exaggerated fake laughter, not being able to go to sleep because...
I just found, stashed away in S's room, dozens of her medications which she has been hiding. They were Celexas, Seroquels (which she just got taken off of a couple weeks ago), and Tenex's. She claims they were from a long time ago when she went on a medication strike (years ago), but I know that's not so...
We finally met with-the psychiatrist today and told him about difficult child's tight chest and breathing problems, and how they hit him several times a day. Both therapist and psychiatrist think it's panic attacks, so psychiatrist suggested Prozac. I nixed that because of difficult child's prior problems.
We are discontinuing the Imiprimine. And the...
daughter has a very difficult to manage regulatory processing disorder (here's some background info http://www.conductdisorders.com/community/threads/first-post-desperate-for-support.44680/ )
She's been on increasing doses of Abilify for the past year. We know it's helpful because when things start...
So Thursday I went into difficult child's counselling session with him. He hates to have me there, but given all the sleep issues he has been having? It was needed.
difficult child was off the wall goofy, very distractable, hyper, and just plain silly. I think some of what was said got through to him, but therapist...
difficult child knocked on my ofc door about 45 min ago, and when I opened it, he was in tears, his face was all red, and he was sweating. He said he was really, really depressed and didn't know what to do with-himself and he was walking around in circles.
I took him downstairs and gave him an Impiprimine and...
Is anyone's difficult child on something for anxiety???? Probably should have asked earlier as I'm leaving for psychiatrist in 30 minutes and he really needs to do something to get Tigger's anxiety under control.
Just talked to the Dean of Students at difficult child 1's school. They're getting worried. He's always been a big talker when it comes to frustration. "I'm going to kill (insert professional here).
Yesterday, during a meltdown, he blew up saying he was going to kill the bus driver if he didn't get to...
Like, all the time.
I came and said how well D was doing, didn't I? :knockedout:
Well, he was. And then, a couple of weeks ago, something happened. I don't know what. He started talking - more - alot - like, from wake up til bedtime, it was one very, very long run on sentence that never...
Yeah.
D came home today visibly manic. Eyes bulging, again, flush face, rambling, racing thoughts. therapist at partial said (and his points confirm) a very inconsisent day of up and down behaviors.
He was very, very active. He was annoyed there wasn't anything he really likes (there is, but he...
Just a little update - difficult child was diagnosis'd Pervasive Developmental Disorder (PDD)-Aspergers today. This new dr is actually good friends with difficult child's original psychiatrist who says he's 99.9% sure difficult child is Bipolar. I haven't been feeling the bipolar diagnosis for a long time, I have more and more felt he was on the spectrum. When he first started...
