    Lamictal question

We’ve been doing some medication changes for J now that school has ended. We finally got him off Depakote completely and haven’t seen a return of his mania (yeah!). He’s on 100 mg BID Lamictal and 5 mg Lexapro – and he’s still depressed. He’s lying around the house, not wanting to do anything but...

I need help (long) need a new direction to look - this is a puzzle

I'll start with the history to help. Since 2002 my middle one has been in treatment. Initial diagnosis was simply ADHD inattentive with ODD and just didn't do well with school. She was born with some physical stuff that was addressed early in life that didn't really disrupt her life too much but...

    Opinions about Concerta, please.

Hey everyone. difficult child's little brother was referred to the psychiatric due to his hyperactivity. So about 2 weeks ago we tried Stattera. First week I noticed that he seemed calmer. He wasn't running from couch to couch to stuffed chair literally diving head first, and then doing it over again. The...

    He's lying

That is what difficult child son was yelling at me as a very angry, wet (from the hot tub) came storming down the street. Then difficult child goes to a bush and throws something in it. Apparently difficult child had a lighter and was trying to light the bushes in the mans yard on fire! That was after he ran through the man's...

Hi. New here and totally overwhelmed.

I'm glad i found this place. My son is 11 and i feel totally overwhelmed. He has been expelled multiple schools. I can't hold a job due to his behavior because no friends/relatives can handle him. He's sooo angry I have no idea how to help him. I'm a recovering addict (been sober 4 years) and I...

New here, exhausted, and at the end of my tether

Well, to make a really long story sort of short, a year ago today difficult child was released from her first psychiatric hospital stay for brandishing a knife at herself and her stepdad, and threatening to kill herself because the dogs interrupted her youtube viewing. Things seem to have only gotten worse. She may not...

so, difficult child has put on alot of weight due to seroquel and I feel badly for her. Nothing is fitting the right way, i had to go to the mall to get a few more things, stretch pants, sweats. Jeans aren't making it due to her stomach whichis huge at this piont. I'm kinda disgusted, it's the way it is...

    Just needing to vent-sorry long

Something's gotta give! I think husband and I are both ready to go back to work-right now the week ahead seems more like a punishment than a relief.- difficult child is so 24/7 right now. He constantly needs to be around us and can't or won't do anything independently. The few times we have gone out-like to...

Psychiatrist appointment this week / medications check

This week is difficult child's medication check... He's been on Abilify & tenex for forever... and he is maxed out on the dosages. He still has all the same issues, although the medications taken at night help him wind down for sleep at a decent hour, and i suppose they do curb some of his agressive behavior during the...

Hi all. It has been a long time. TO update: I was in school this semester. Trying to get certified in medical billing so I can work from home.. Sammy has been doing ok for the most part. This week he was "suspended" for the day because he was hitting. I told them thank you for rewarding...

    Today's appointment

Well, the doctor is a neuropsychiatrist. No testing was done, mostly a consultation. The tests that would show if kiddo is Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), etc., still have to be done by someone else. Wants to know why SpEd isn't testing for it when SpEd is doing the IEP on emotional disorder. SpEd suggested I get full...

    Next medication change, round.... something

OK, doctor still not really feeling the need for more testing. I ask for a full evaluation and get asked what I'm wanting. Is there some more specific name that I'm missing? I said a full psychological/neurological profile. Why? *headdesk* Let me think... because she reacts so oddly to so many...

    Then there's difficult child...

driving us nuts (see post about easy child/difficult child). He is just so manic like so much of the time. At his morning school he is rolling around on the floor, crawling, and talking like a two year old when he isn't angry and screaming at them or trying to barricade himself in a room. He's also refusing to go...

    Trazadone timing

Ok, so here it is, when difficult child was recently inpatient, the psychiatrist not only added Lithium ER to his medications, but added Trazadone for sleep. difficult child has had huge problems sleeping. difficult child is taking 150 mg Trazadone. He takes all his medications at about 7pm (either my daughter or I visually watch him). Anyway, some...

    prescription medications

I honestly believe that there are times when people need medications rx'd to function normally. But, am I the only person that believes that sometimes medications are rx'd when they shouldn't be- just because a good therapist can't be found to deal with psychiatric problems so people start thinking medications MUST be needed?

Mom shh, I have a secret, we are Super Heroes!

OK... long night. K has been horrible for months, if you have been keeping track.:dissapointed: Her delusions have gotten so much worse in the past few months. I am trying to keep separate the new addition of Depakote and her "normal" behaviors!!! But, husband left for a week on Monday... she had...

I can't eat the Heart Cereal!!!!

OK so I haven't really posted about K too much because well, she isn't doing well... same old story... she is up to 100mg Topamax, and still at 200mg Lamictal. Yeah I know I don't think these are the medications for here or the right combo. I would like to revisit Trileptal maybe with Abilify and the...

    switching doctor's

hi, so i've thought alot past few days on how to handle stuff with this whole "thorazine" drug that was prescribed difficult child. I did my best, worked it through, read the clinical trials, went to the fda site to view the incedences of the drug. At end of day I am not giving it to her. I contacted her...
