It is sad - but yes, the kids are labeled and prejudged before anyone can find out what happened. My difficult child 2 was put in ISS for being in a fight - he NEVER swung!! He was being SWUNG AT!! He turned to walk away from the kid (who happened to be a teacher pet) and the kid put his watch over his fist and hit difficult child 2 in the BACK of the head! difficult child 2 and the kid exchanged words - no cussing by either one - and my child walks away because he said he saw it was leding to a fight and the other kid swung. Needless to say, I had to have that removed from his record. I am glad there were witnesses - one included my easy child/difficult child 1 who is well liked at the school - and has a reputation of not cutting her brother any slack if he does something wrong and the other kid is a hot head.
Although I work for the school board - I STILL have trouble!! UGH!
Hugs to you - and yes, be prepared. Write EVERYTHING down - school stresses to us about DOCUMENTATION DOCUMENTATION! - so it will be good on your part too!
