Wow! and EEEEK!!!
I know that through working with our difficult child that our own sd has been forced to learn 10 times more than they were taught during their formal 'education'.
I actually have donated books to our school counselors. Not too sure they were very pleased, but they acted okay about it. And, I know for a fact (because they told me so) that the majority of our elementary school's staff have taken seminars on proper restraint techniques and working with children with anger issues.
I just love the "but he's so smart" comment. Jeesh. I always want to say "okay, so what? one thing has nothing to do with the other - apples and oranges", but so far have managed to bite my tongue.
Hugs to you. I agree - let this be your practice run - and hope that along the way the sd staff learns a thing or two.
