My wife is depressed for 3-4 years now after her mom passed away with dementia.

Well, when it rains it pours. I've been dealing with these two things, too, the decline and death of my mother, and the floundering (and worse) of my son. It's not pretty. That's all I can say. My heart goes out to both of you.
