What bird food actually attracts birds lol??

We put a nice bird feeder out in our yard hoping to attract birds.

They must not like our wild bird feed that we bought on Amazon. Anyone have suggestions on good bird food that will help us hear birds singing by our feeder?

sunflower seeds.

Shelled sunflower seeds,niger thistle seeds (needs special feeder, or get in net bag), cracked peanut meats,

These are more expensive, but will cut way down on wastage and mess in your yard.

Also, mealworms if you are using a tray feeder, (add to seed). In colder weather, suet blocks with nutmeats, fruit, mealworms, etc.

Do a bit of research, it depends on what is in your area and what you want to attract.

Mixed bird seed that you get in big bags usually doesn't cut it.

We may get a water fountain too.

It was later in my life that I started locing birds so I have catching up to do.
