Hey all -
1st post although I've lurked around here for a couple years reading about everyone's kids and how you deal with them.
My second son is now 7, adopted at 15 months from EE, with probable alcohol exposure in utero. He was diagnosis. ADHD at 4 and has been on stimulant medications ever since. None...
Hello all! I am new here and wonder if anyone could share their experience and perhaps success stories about how they stopped their child from ripping class work assignments.
My son almost 9 years has a one on one aide..very bright, can do the work, however when his work is not perfect the way...
Today I really felt bad for my difficult child. Since I have allowed myself to realize that most of his behaviors are beyond his control ( and I have not yet been able to find someone to help us yet) I don't get as angry at him but more sad for him at times.
He had a double header baseball game and in...
Sorry I haven't been around much. I've been reading but feeling too down and too exhausted to respond.
This whole hospital stay has us thrown for a loop. I posted that we were going to bring difficult child home Wednesday afternoon for school and then he would spend the night and probably end up staying...
Hi all,
Yesterday we got a call from the psychiatist's office...He had a cancellation and could see us in the afternoon. We rounded up a babysitter for easy child (a dear friend left her gathering with relatives who had just arrived from out of town to babysit--good friend) and off we went.
So, the...
difficult child has been breaking into my office for wks now, and finally, the faceplate fell off, along with-the screws.
In addition, hormones have hit and his Adderall has been wearing off by about 3 p.m., and he is a monster every day when I pick him up from school. Today he was particularly obnoxious and...
I'm looking for some help here on how to help difficult child 2 who seems to get very stuck on one way of thinking or in some emotion.
When he had his neuropsychologist testing done the tester obseved that he had the highest number of attempts she had ever seen on this one test (moving pegs?)--he persevered...
difficult child has been so full of himself lately.
He refused to get up yesterday, insisted he had a stomachache. He got a hold of food at a friend's house that he wasn't supposed to eat and ...
We try to get him up even if he's a bit sick, assuming he doesn't have a fever, because in Real Life, you...
a magic wand.
Argh! Last night was horrible at the our house.
It all started when difficult child was playing with the computer and I asked him to take his medicine. I brought it into him with a glass of water so he wouldn't have to get up. When he wouldn't take it I gave him the choice of taking the...
ok, weird title. There was a post earlier about how when a difficult child is doing really well, we get suspicious and wait for the other shoe to drop. It dropped. The little bugger took his patch off at school this morning. He was so out of control this afternoon at dismissal time the teacher had to...
My son is 6 years old and in kindergarten. He was diagnosed when he was 4 with mood disorder. The psychiatrist at the time said he is too young to be fully diagnosed with a mental disorder because his brain is still developing/growing. So my son was labeled a mood disorder patient. The...

Does anyone have any experience with Cymbalta? This has just been prescribed for my 15 year old who is currently taking vyvanse and fluoxetine. We are weaning from fluoxetine and going to Cymbalta to help with morning waking and agitation?
Thank you for any input!
I've HAD it!!!! The disrespect and rudeness is getting totally out of control. It doesn't matter what consequence I can think of....twelve years of them and they still don't work. I had his mouth one too many times this evening and little gestures like me telling him to stop something...
My daughter (age 6) was prescribed Daytrana (a nightmare), then tenex (no effect) then Risperidone (current medication) for her undiagnosed behavior issues. Temper tantrums, rages, non-compliance, general nastiness, hyperactive whatever you want to call it.
The Risperidone seemed to work after...
I am new on here, have been reading the posts for a while now. My difficult child is 11, he was diagnosed as ADHD and ODD in 2003, and added depression in 2007, and Psychosis in June of 2009. We live in a small town with very little resources available locally, he was hospitalized for 7 days during the...

The younger two are biologically linked to my husband. Where as the oldest is not. He came into my life when she was a little under 2...
Hi,
Bug's neuropsychologist raised the possibility of bipolar disorder recently and I'm trying to learn as much about it as I can. Right now, his diagnoses are Tourette Syndrome, ADHD, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), and Sensory Integration Disorder (SID). He also shows some signs of NLD. He is almost 7 yo.
Bug has always been a very hyper child...
First off let me say that it feels good to have found this forum because I know that I will get support from people that understand what I am going through rather than people trying to tell me that my sons actions are normal boy behaviors.
My son is 4 years old and very violent...
